Heartwood Creek

Before you can start the repair and maintenance of your heartwood creek, you must first know a little about it. Heartwood creeks are the artistic creations of award-winning artist Jim Shore. Jim Shore is a well-known contemporary American sculptor and painter born in South Carolina who has been creating his pieces since before the year 2000. Each of these masterpieces is the result of his lifetime of dedication and hard work as an artist. So, now that you know what it took to create these pieces, you can now begin to appreciate its significance.

The great significance of a heartwood creek is not limited to the art that it represents but it also bears great importance to American culture. American culture has always had its roots based from the traditions of old European countries. The early European settlers back around the early 1600's bought them to America. The pieces that Jim Shore creates are new fusions of these early European traditions and modern American culture. Hence, the results of these mixtures are masterpieces that showcase the best of both sides.

The best way to preserve these fine examples of modern American culture is to take great precautions. These precautions include but are not limited to keeping the figurines in enclosed cabinets. Doing this ensures that they will be protected at all times from any potential harm. This might sound extreme and unnecessary but remember a heartwood creek is a colorful and fascinating work of art that illustrates classic Disney characters. Most kids will often want to play with them however, accidents do happen and it is best to keep the kids away.

There will be unavoidable circumstances where your heartwood creek would be lightly damaged. For instance dropping the figurine accidentally, this is the most common cause for light damage. What ever the reason may be, there is a simple way to repair them. To do this you'll need industrial grade super glue. However, owners should be very careful when applying the super glue on to the broken pieces.

Depending on how you're using it the glue can either restore your heartwood creek back to its form or ruin it permanently. If you're doing it, all wrong people will notice the broken edges. It all depends on the technique you used in applying the glue on to the broken pieces. Too much glue and it will overflow once you press the broken pieces together. On the other hand, too little then the pieces will not stick properly and the glue will harden on the broken pieces making it more difficult to repair. The best way to apply the glue is to apply it only on 1/3 of the total surface of the broken angles. This ensures that there will be no overflow once you press the pieces together. Once you've pressed the pieces together, it is best to use a rubber band to hold them together. This ensures that there will be no visible marks left on the outer surface. After about 24 hours, your heartwood creek would be good as new.
